Winter Newsletter 2011

We have had a very exciting end of 2011 with a variety of interesting projects on the drawing boards in the office including a major new country estate in Hampshire with a house, equestrian centre and series of outbuildings, which have been a pleasure to design.

Burton Mill Pond
The champagne opening of the new viewing deck, which we designed for West Sussex County Council to soften the new weir and spillway at the beautiful Burton Mill Pond, was another highpoint in November. Nick Herbert, our local MP, felt it was a good example of local people galvanising to achieve a very positive outcome for the National Park, ‘the big society’ at work!

The Eardley
The major redevelopment of the Eardley Hotel site on Worthing seafront is now reaching completion and the scaffolding is coming down. The building is a completely new build but it is lovely to have the essence of the old Victorian hotel back on the seafront, and we hope we have achieved the retention of the memory of the history of the site in this 21st century construction.

Burleigh House
The opening of Burleigh House at Burhill, Surrey (one of our designs commissioned and built by Willowmead) was as usual a lavish affair and the building looks fantastic in its setting.

Rustington Hall
2011 saw the completion of the final phase of Works at Rustington Hall, a residential care home where we have created a bright new Reception Area; orangery-style Living Room; contemporary kitchen and a walled garden.

Conservation Projects
Amongst our historic projects, the refurbishment of an early 19th century cottage on the harbour at Sidlesham is nearing completion as well as a Grade II listed property in Pickhurst Lane near Pulborough.
