Little Halnaker
A large country house overlooking the substantial Elizabethan ruins of the earlier seat of the Duke of Richmond and Gordon. A National Monument and a house adjacent to the site being one of the last houses by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
While using late Georgian principles the house breaks with pure Georgian tradition by using stone and flint for its main elevations of the same colour and texture as the walls of the ruins so as to achieve harmony with the National Monument. |
